According to the World Bank’s Equality of Opportunity for Sexual and Gender Minorities (EQOSOGI) initiative, despite some legal and social advances in the past two decades, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people continue to face widespread discrimination and violence in many countries.

What is the LGBTI rights agenda of the LAC region? What are the challenges for civil, political and economic inclusion of LGBTI minorities? What is needed to improve the lives of LGBTI minorities in LAC? The session will discuss key findings from the first EQOSOGI report and other insights on civil, political and economic inclusion of LGBTI people in the LAC region.

This webinar, co-organized with the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) team of the Social Sustainability and Inclusion (SSI) Global Practice, is part of the Insights in Advancing Gender Equality webinar series, of the Latin America and the Caribbean Gender Innovation Lab (LACGIL). This webinar series focuses on lessons learned and practical solutions designed by gender specialists, development practitioners (inside and outside the World Bank Group), and non-governmental organizations to address gender inequalities in the region.
